Lakehill Preparatory School students are involved in Community Service from kindergarten through Grade 12. Through community outreach, Lakehill teaches students to embrace a spirit of volunteerism in the hopes of fostering a life-long passion for service.
Throughout the year, Middle School students are involved in many of Lakehill’s community service projects. From pizza sales for tornado victims to book drives for local schools, students are encouraged at every grade to give back to our local community. Specifically, community service initiatives involving the Middle School include helping the city of Dallas with their graffiti abatement program, volunteering at the food bank, making sandwiches for the homeless, tutoring students at local schools, helping with carnivals and special events at neighborhood schools, sponsoring Kite Day at Perry Campus for a neighborhood public school, collecting books, coats, and school supplies for schools in need, and raising funds to support various scholarship and community programs. Lakehill also sponsors a twice-monthly route with Meals on Wheels, maintains two Little Free Libraries, and hosts several “Service Saturdays” throughout the year.
As a UNICEF Ambassador School, students learn about the global community. Through their participation in Lakehill’s annual “Trick or Treat” drive for UNICEF as well as other projects benefiting UNICEF’s efforts, Lakehill students touch the world with their annual contributions.
Middle School students are actively involved in Lakehill’s Recycling Program by routinely collecting and recycling various items. Students also actively participate in the Adopt-A-Shoreline program at White Rock Lake, volunteering monthly to preserve this neighborhood treasure. Lakehill was named the Adopt-A-Shoreline Volunteer Group of the Year in 2010 and again in 2016. These programs educate our students about the world’s natural resources and the benefits of using them in a sustainable manner.
All Middle School students are invited to participate in Lakehill’s Community Connections Club. The club meets weekly during lunch to work on a variety of community service projects. Each year many Lakehill students are honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
