International Student Program

Program Description

Lakehill Preparatory School is an independent, co-educational day school for students in Kindergarten through grade 12. For more than 45 years, Lakehill has embraced its mission to guide motivated students to learn with curiosity, lead with confidence, and serve with compassion.

The International Student Program (ISP) provides Lakehill Preparatory School the opportunity to welcome international students to be a part of our community. The ISP at Lakehill Preparatory School places a strong emphasis on academics, solidifying students’ English speaking and writing skills, preparing students for college, exposure to the American culture, and providing a quality education in the independent school tradition. We are looking for international students with strong English proficiency skills.

Living Accommodations

Students in the ISP must live with a family member or guardian. Lakehill does not provide boarding or homestay services. Students are not allowed to live unaccompanied by a guardian.

Application Process for International Students in Grades 5-12

Lakehill Preparatory School is SEVP approved and has the authorization to issue an F-1 visa.

Step One – Application Deadline and Fees
Complete an application for your child.

While the initial admission deadline has passed, applications are still being accepted in select grades for the 2017-18 school year. Please contact Stacey Peacock in the Office of Admission at 214.826.2931 or admission@lakehillprep.org to find out more.

The deadline for Applications for the 2018-19 school year is January 12, 2018.

A non-refundable Application fee of $100 must be submitted with the completed Application for Admission.

Step Two – Submit Records Release Form to Current School
The Records Release Form is available here. Please submit the Records Release Form to your child’s current school, and the school will forward your child’s records to the Office of Admission. The records are due by January 26, 2018. All forms must be submitted in English.

Step Three – Submit Mathematics and English Teacher Evaluation Forms to Current Teachers

Please submit the appropriate forms to your child’s current English and Mathematics teachers to be completed and returned directly to the Office of Admission. The forms are due by January 26, 2018. All forms must be submitted in English.

Step Four – Complete Entrance Testing and Test Registration Form
Students can take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), PSAT, SAT, or Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT).

Visit www.ssat.org to register for the SSAT. For ISEE information and to register online visit www.iseetest.org. You may choose to send results on the ISEE Test Registration Form directly to Lakehill. The Lakehill ISEE Code is 441761.

Additionally, an English proficiency exam is required for non-native English speakers. Students may take the Official TOEFL, TOEFL, Jr., or IELTS.

Step Five – Student Questionnaire
The Student Questionnaire is available here. You may scan and e-mail the form back to admission@lakehillprep.org.

Step Six – Student Essay
The Student Essay Form can downloaded here. You may scan and e-mail the form back to admission@lakehillprep.org.

Step Seven – Complete an Admission Interview
International students not in the Dallas area may conduct a Skype interview. Students visiting the Dallas area may visit the school for an interview. You may schedule an interview by emailing admission@lakehillprep.org.

Step Eight –  Admission Decisions
Decision letters and e-mail will be sent on March 9, 2018.
Contracts are due back on March 23, 2018. Due to international guidelines, international students must pay contracts in full.
