Mathematics

The mathematics program at Lakehill Preparatory School is designed to guide students toward becoming skilled, thoughtful, and creative problem solvers who are able to utilize the tools of mathematics in other disciplines. The curriculum helps students acquire a rational understanding of mathematics by including age-appropriate activities with concrete materials and real-world applications.

The kindergarten through sixth grade classes use the Singapore Math curricula, supplemented with computation practice and problem-solving activities.

During Math Week each year, parents are invited into the kindergarten through fourth grade classrooms to demonstrate how mathematics is useful in their work place or home. This activity provides another avenue for relating mathematics to something outside the classroom, as well as a way to involve parents in the mathematics education of their children. Creative demonstrations, hands-on activities, and class discussions emphasize the application of basic skills in daily experiences.
