Programs of the Parent Faculty Club

Athletics

The Athletic Committee works directly with the Athletic Director to assist with all Middle School and Varsity sports. The committee also hosts the annual Athletic Banquets given for all student-athletes participating in Middle School and Varsity sports and their families.  The committee is responsible for producing a video, highlighting all the Varsity teams’ seasons and for collecting images for a presentation at the Middle School banquet. The Committee also coordinates parents to help with the concession stand and the gate at all Middle School and Varsity home games.

Team Parents
There are Team Parents for every Middle School and Upper School athletic team.  The Team Parents work under the direction of the Athletic Committee Chair to support the coaches and the teams by supplying volunteer manpower (help set up field/courts, chain gang for football, run clock, keep score, be announcers for games, etc.).  Team Parents also help by providing snacks/drinks to teams and communicating information from the coaches to the parents.

Tailgate Parties
These annual events are held during the first home football game of the season at Perry Field as well as at the beginning of winter and spring sports.  All families are encouraged to attend these fun events and kick off the athletic seasons.

Concessions
Concessions are provided at all Varsity and Middle School home games.

Back to School Picnic
This all-school event is held the weekend before the school year begins.  The picnicl is held on the school practice field and students, their families, and teachers all get together to welcome in the coming year. Families will bring their own picnic dinner and the PFC will furnish ice cream or snow cones to help us "keep our cool."

Book Fair
A spring Book Fair will be held to encourage summer reading.  A portion of the proceeds is a fundraiser for the Club.

Dads' Club
All Lakehill dads are invited to be a part of this new group. The goals of the Dads' Club are four fold: Academics, Community Service, Social Networking, and Building and Infrastructure.

Faculty Appreciation
This committee provides monthly breakfasts or lunches for the faculty and staff.  The parents provide and serve all the food each month.  Beginning this year, this committee is purchasing meals for the faculty and staff prior to evening programs involving most of the faculty (i.e., start of school Open House, Winter and Spring music programs).

Field Day
All Lower School classes compete in field games, such as tug of war, limbo, three-legged race, and an obstacle course.  This event is held at Perry Campus and students are transported via bus.  Parents plan and run the entire day, and all Lower School parents are encouraged to come out and cheer for their students.

Graduation
The Junior Class parents and the Club host this annual event.  Volunteers plan the extra activities of the night from the reception to seating in the auditorium.  Juniors and seniors are also given Lakehill gifts from the Club.

Grandparents' Day
This annual event is held the week of Thanksgiving break.  Breakfast is provided by the Club for families attending the program.

Halloween Carnival
Held on Halloween day, this event is planned and executed entirely by parent volunteers.  From the haunted house to the face painting station, Lower and Middle School students attend this annual event.

Hospitality
The Hospitality Committee provides refreshments for programs at the school including the winter music programs, spring fling music programs, and other events as requested by the school.  We also provide refreshments for PFC General Meetings for the entire membership.

Library Support
Volunteers assist the librarians throughout the school year shelving books, doing inventory, and helping with any other needs that may arise.  Lower School parents can volunteer to read a story during their student’s class time.

On-Call Volunteers
This is a way for working parents and parents with tight schedules to be involved.  If a group needs additional volunteers for a one-time event, we utilize this group of parents.

Performing Arts
Stage parents support our Performing Arts programs in Middle School and Upper School drama, choir, and musical theater.  Volunteers are needed for each performing group to assist faculty with planning and providing snacks for after school rehearsals, cast parties, organization of costumes, and a year-end banquet.

Registration
Volunteers set up registration for the school.  Volunteer sheets are available for all parents to sign up for committees. The Club sells Lakehill merchandise through the Spirit Shop, as well as school supplies and annual memberships.  The Club also provides general information during registration that pertains to the coming year.

Room Parents
The Club coordinates parents from each class to be room parents.  The room parents assist the classroom teacher during the school year by soliciting and coordinating field trip drivers, phone tree volunteers, class parties, and volunteers for PFC-sponsored events.  Room parents also coordinate a class project for the annual auction.  The room parents work as liaisons between parents, teachers, and the school.

School Supplies
This annual fundraiser provides Lower and Middle school students with school supplies for the coming school year.  This is a time and financial savings for all parents.

Scrapbook
The Club Historian prepares a scrapbook each summer of the preceding year’s school and Club activities.

Senior Day
This is a day, usually in January or February, set aside to honor upcoming graduates.  The Club hosts a coffee for the senior class and invites parents to join their senior for one final lunch in the cafeteria.  The day concludes with an all school assembly/pep rally in which each senior is introduced, shares favorite Lakehill stories, and raffles off one of their prized Lakehill possessions.

Spirit Shop
The insignia shop is located in the front hallway of the school.  Lakehill-inspired merchandise is available for purchase for students and families.  All Lakehill-branded merchandise is dress code approved for students to wear to school.  Volunteers man the store, order and stock the merchandise, and presell merchandise through the summer packet.  The Spirit Shop also coordinates the sale of PE uniforms during registration. All Middle and Upper School students are required to wear a PE uniform.

Warrior Welcome
This is a series of events in the late spring and summer.  New parents are invited to the PFC’s final meeting of the year.  Following this meeting is an informal luncheon hosted by the School to answer questions, tour the School, and acquaint new families with faculty, staff, PFC officers, and other families. Over the summer, the Club sponsors an adult get together at the home of a current Lakehill family. This event is designed to provide information to parents, new and current, give parents an opportunity to sign up for Club committees, ask questions, and make connections with other families.
