PFC Programs & Volunteer Opportunities
Athletics/Concessions
The Athletic Committee is responsible for the annual Athletic Luncheon given for all student-athletes participating in Middle School sports and the Athletic Banquet for all student-athletes competing in Varsity sports, as well as their families. There are Team Parents for every Middle School and Upper School athletic team. The Team Parents work under the direction of the Athletic Committee Chair to support the coaches and the teams by supplying volunteer manpower (help set up field/courts, chain gang for football, run clock, keep score, be announcers for games, etc.). Team Parents also help with providing snacks/drinks to teams and communicating information from the coaches to the parents. Parents run the concession stand and the gate at all Middle School and Varsity home games. The Athletics Committee also helps organize two Tailgate Parties, one in the fall and one in the spring.
Auction
This is the PFC’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The Auction typically raises more than $100,000 each year for the School. Volunteers are needed from throughout the school to coordinate this event. It is a great way to get to know parents across all age groups at Lakehill.
Back-to-School Picnic
This all-school event is held the weekend before the school year begins. The picnic is held on either the practice field at the Main Campus or on the outfield of the baseball field at the RLP Campus. Families bring their own picnic dinners, and the PFC provides water slides, water, and snow cones to cool everyone off. Students and teachers get together to welcome new friends and greet old friends as a new year starts at Lakehill.
Book Fair
The Book Fair is held twice a year to help raise money for the school and to provide an opportunity to buy summer reading material and other fun books and games.
Dads’ Club
All Lakehill dads are invited to be a part of this group. The Dads’ Club sponsors and runs the grill at the RLP Campus football field. They work with the Athletics committee to provide free hot dogs at Tailgate. Additionally, they provide and sell grilled food at other home football games. They also host an annual Chili Cook Off, as well as other events. The Dads’ Club supports the PFC by providing assistance with set-up/breakdown of PFC events on an as-needed basis.
Faculty Appreciation
This committee provides breakfast or lunch for the faculty and staff during Open House and some early release days. This committee provides meals for the faculty and staff prior to evening programs involving most of the faculty (i.e., start of school Open House, Winter and Spring music programs).
Field Day
All Lower School classes compete in field games, such as the water balloon launch, limbo, three-legged race, and an obstacle course. This event is held on either the Main Campus practice field or on the field at the Warrior Athletic Complex. Parents plan and run the entire day, and all Lower School parents are encouraged to come out and cheer for the students.
Graduation
The PFC hosts this annual event that is run by the Junior Class parents. Volunteers plan the extra activities of the evening, from the reception to seating in the auditorium. Seniors are also given Lakehill gifts from the Club.
Grandparents’ Day
This annual event is held the Friday before Thanksgiving break to honor our grandparents and other special friends. Breakfast is provided by the PFC for families attending the Grandparents’ Day student musical program.
Halloween Carnival
The Halloween Carnival is held on or near Halloween. This event is planned and executed entirely by parent volunteers. Students in kindergarten through fourth grade enjoy this annual event, which includes a bounce house, carnival-type games, face painting, and more.
July 4th Parade
This committee, with help from the Dads’ Club, builds a Lakehill-themed parade float for the annual Lakewood Fourth of July Parade. Students ride the float and participate in the parade while a parent volunteer drives a vehicle pulling the float.
Performing Arts
Parents support our Performing Arts programs in Middle School and Upper School drama, choir, and musical theater. Volunteers are needed for each performing group to assist faculty with planning and providing snacks for after school rehearsals, cast parties, organization of costumes, and a year-end banquet.
School Supplies
School Supplies can be ordered on-line for all students at Lakehill. The school supply list can be found in the Summer Packets for grades K-8. By ordering on-line, parents are able to provide Lower and Middle School students with school supplies as requested by the teachers. This is a time and financial savings for the parents and ensures consistency of supplies for the teachers. The supplies will arrive at the school and will be delivered to the classroom for Lower School. Middle School students pick up their supplies in the cafeteria on Orientation Day.
Senior Day
This is a day in April set aside to honor upcoming graduates. The PFC hosts a breakfast for the senior class and their parents in the cafeteria. An all-school assembly follows, in which each senior is introduced and raffles off one of their prized Lakehill possessions.
Trek for Tech
This is an annual 5K run and a 1-mile fun run for students, parents, faculty, staff, and members of the community. Held in November, this annual event raises money for technology needs at Lakehill. All equipment funded by this event is purchased immediately to be used in the current school year. The event typically raises more than $30,000 each year.
Warrior Welcome
Over the summer, the PFC holds an evening get-together (Warrior Welcome) at an off-site location to supply information to new parents and to give them a chance to chat informally with current parents.
