Tools for Giving

There are many ways to support Lakehill Preparatory School financially. The information below may be helpful as you consider your ability to help make this great school even better.

Cash and Credit Cards

Gifts of cash are the most common form of support for Lakehill Preparatory School.  Please make checks payable to “Lakehill Annual Fund.”  Please also provide your name, your child’s name and class, or your Lakehill graduation year on your check and mail it to:

Lakehill Preparatory School
Development/Alumni Office – Lakehill Annual Fund
2720 Hillside Dr.
Dallas, TX 75214

Visa, MasterCard, or American Express may also be used for making an Annual Fund contribution to the School.  Gifts may be made online by clicking the Online Giving Tab or by contacting the Office of Development at 214-826-2931.

Recurring Gifts

A set amount can be given at regular intervals, such as monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually. These gifts are often arranged through an employer by payroll-deduction (with or without a company matching gift component). Arrangements are also often made through one’s bank, investment manager, PayPal, or credit card company.

Securities

Gifts of appreciated securities and closely held stock can be extremely beneficial—both to our donors and to Lakehill Preparatory School. Donors may receive an income-tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities, as well as reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes. Because Lakehill Preparatory School has no tax liability on the gift of appreciated securities, this is often an excellent vehicle for donors to substantially impact the well-being of the school.

Gifts of stock and mutual funds are coordinated by the Office of Development at 214-826-2931.

Corporate Matching Gifts

When Philip Reed, chair of General Electric, introduced the concept of a corporate matching gift program in 1954, it was unlikely that he could envision that his idea would have such a huge impact on the philanthropic landscape.  Mr. Reed’s goal for a corporate matching program was to encourage GE employees to contribute to educational, cultural, and community organizations that could help create a better-educated and well-rounded workforce.  Today at Lakehill, we are creating the leaders for tomorrow that Philip Reed’s novel idea envisioned.  Corporate matching gifts programs are now a mainstream practice that allows corporations to support programs that are important to their employees.

Many corporations offer matching gift programs to their employees and their families. Matching gift support often doubles or triples an individual’s gift, and all matching support is credited to the individual and their class participation for the Annual Fund Campaign.

Employees should obtain a matching gift form from their company’s human resources office, complete the necessary information, and mail it to Lakehill with their gift. The Development Office will then certify the receipt of the gift and return the form to the company in order to receive the matching funds.

Planned Giving

Through considerate planning today, donors of planned gifts can support the needs of Lakehill students for years to come. There are almost as many ways to make a gift as there are needs for our students. The Development Office at Lakehill can provide individuals and their professional advisers with information and assistance in setting up different planned giving options.

Bequests

This is one of the simplest and most popular ways to give.

Beneficiary Designations

Continue supporting the students and faculty at Lakehill even after your lifetime by naming the school as a beneficiary of your insurance annuity assets, life insurance, or retirement plan.

Charitable Gift Annuities

Allows you to make a gift and, either now or at some point in the future, receive income for life through a fixed annuity payment.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

Under the proper situations, this allows you to reduce your taxes, increase your income, unlock appreciated assets, forego investment worries, and make a memorable difference to the students at Lakehill.

Charitable Lead Trusts

Give a donation now while reducing the future tax burden on your heirs.

Make a Gift of Your Home, Then Live There for Life

By giving Lakehill a remainder interest in your house you could receive substantial tax benefits now and continue living in your home for the rest of your life.

Endowed Gifts

Continue giving to Lakehill Preparatory School in perpetuity, in your name or the name of a loved one, and receive tax benefits, as well.

Retirement Account Gifts

The gift of an IRA or a 401K can have very special tax advantages.

Mineral Interest Gifts

Gifts of mineral interests can offer donors unique tax benefits.

Memorial and Honorary Gifts

If you have a friend, colleague, or family member whose life has been touched by Lakehill Preparatory School, please consider making a gift to the school in that person’s honor. When memorial gifts are received, the Office of Development notifies the honoree’s family of your thoughtfulness.

Donor Advised Funds

This is a popular vehicle that allows donors access to the giving power of a private foundation without the complexity or the expense.
