Recurring Gifts

A set amount can be given at regular intervals, such as monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually. These gifts are often arranged through an employer by payroll-deduction (with or without a company matching gift component). Arrangements are also often made through one’s bank, investment manager, PayPal, or credit card company.

Securities

Gifts of appreciated securities and closely held stock can be extremely beneficial—both to our donors and to Lakehill Preparatory School. Donors may receive an income-tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities, as well as reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes. Lakehill Preparatory School has no tax liability on gifts of appreciated securities.

Gifts of stock and mutual funds are coordinated by the Office of Development at 214-826-2931.

Corporate Matching Gifts

Many corporations offer matching gift programs to their employees and their families. Matching gift support often doubles or triples an individual’s gift, and all matching support is credited to the individual and their class participation for the Annual Fund Campaign.

Check with your company’s human resources office to determine if your gift is eligible for a match, and your company’s process. The Development Office will certify receipt of your gift and return any necessary paperwork to your company.

Planned Giving

Through considerate planning, donors of planned gifts can support the needs of Lakehill students for years to come. There are almost as many ways to make a gift as there are needs for our students. The Development Office at Lakehill can provide individuals and their professional advisers with information and assistance in setting up different planned giving options.

Bequests

This is one of the simplest and most popular ways to give.

Beneficiary Designations

Continue supporting the students and faculty at Lakehill even after your lifetime by naming the school as a beneficiary of your insurance annuity assets, life insurance, or retirement plan.

Charitable Gift Annuities

Allows you to make a gift and, either now or at some point in the future, receive income for life through a fixed annuity payment.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

Under the proper situations, this allows you to reduce your taxes, increase your income, unlock appreciated assets, forego investment worries, and make a memorable difference to the students at Lakehill.

Charitable Lead Trusts

Give a donation now while reducing the future tax burden on your heirs.

Make a Gift of Your Home, Then Live There for Life

By giving Lakehill a remainder interest in your house you could receive substantial tax benefits now and continue living in your home for the rest of your life.

Endowed Gifts

Continue giving to Lakehill Preparatory School in perpetuity, in your name or the name of a loved one, and receive tax benefits, as well.

Retirement Account Gifts

The gift of an IRA or a 401k can have very special tax advantages.

Mineral Interest Gifts

Gifts of mineral interests can offer donors unique tax benefits.

Memorial and Honorary Gifts

Consider making a gift in honor of a friend, colleague, or family member whose life has been touched by Lakehill Preparatory School. When memorial gifts are received, the Office of Development notifies the honoree’s family of your thoughtfulness.

Donor Advised Funds

This is a popular vehicle that allows donors access to the giving power of a private foundation without the complexity or the expense.
